How we think League 2 will look at the end of the season...

The League two season is finally back and it is looking like it is going to be an interesting one for us fans. There has been plenty of movement this off season with some teams really improving whilst others have lost some key players and have maybe surprised fans with who they have brought in as replacements. I am hoping we are in for a season where it really goes down to the wire again for who takes the league title and who ends up in the playoffs but at the same time I think this season we could end up with a real fight for avoiding relegation too that could even possibly go to the final game of the season for the final relegation spot. When you look around the league with those who were relegated and promoted at the end of last season I think we could see those teams coming into the league and cause a few shock results but I guess only time will tell. After having a look around the league here is what we think the table could look like at the end of the season...

Stockport County

Bradford City

Northampton Town

Leyton Orient

Salford City

Stevenage

Tranmere Rovers

Crawley

Colchester United

Doncaster Rovers

Walsall

Mansfield Town

Swindon Town

Crewe Alexandra

Newport County

Harrogate Town

Gillingham

AFC Wimbeldon

Rochdale

Carlisle

Sutton United

Hartlepool United

Grimsby Town

Barrow

As we said at the start of the post we think it could be a very close season especially at the top of the league however, on paper newly promoted Stockport have really strengthened their squad ready to take on the new season and honestly they could cause some big upsets in the league and I think it they gel quickly and start the season on the right foot they could end up winning the league. I do wish I could have put Bradford City in the top spot but unfortunately I think they will get beat to this spot but will hopefully be promoted automatically this season, Hughes has brought some quality into the squad and they look way better than past seasons. Let's just hope this season is a good season to be a Bradford fan as after recent seasons we certainly deserve it. As for the remaining automatic promotion spot I really do think Northampton could push for this and again if they have a good start to the season I can see them just beating those around them to that final spot.

The playoff spots are going to be widely contested with plenty of teams capable of putting in some great performances to gain the chance of being promoted to League 1 but I think at the end of the season we could be looking at Leyton Orient, Salford, Stevenage and Tranmere fighting it out for that final spot with Stevenage being the team to go up. As for at the bottom of the table I just can't shake the feeling that Barrow are going to struggle this season but also I feel like Grimsby and Hartlepool will be battling all season to stay above the drop zone with Grimsby losing out in the closing few games and heading back into the National league.

Obviously these predictions have been made without a team kicking a ball yet this season so I am really looking forward to seeing how the season actually progresses and there will be a midway check in to see if these predictions are looking likely or way off plus a full round up at the end of the season with how far off the predictions were or if I got anything spot on. All I can say is I am really looking forward to this season as it has the possibility to be a great competitive one all round and fingers crossed it is the start of something good at Bradford City as that has been a long time coming.

Who do you think will finish in the top 3 and bottom 2 of League 2 this season?

My thoughts on the 2021/22 Bradford City season

I think the majority of Bradford City fans will look back on the season like we have and just wonder what actually happened? What we thought was going to be a fantastic season didn't go to plan at all and had a few twists and turns before finally showing some promise however, it was a little too late in the end and we ended up finishing 14th in League 2, way off the mark of where most fans thought we would be.

The pre-season build up made all us fans pretty hopeful for the season ahead with Derek Adams coming out with plenty of promises and interviews saying the sort of thing he had in store for us but we saw just a few months into the season those promises were definitely not going to happen and morale in the squad had dropped massively. It didn't take long for fans to start turning on Adams & owner Rupp after performances were absolutely shocking and nowhere near what those players in that squad were capable of, it just looked like they didn't want to play. Still the club kept Adams around and even with his post match interviews angering fans even more due to his ego and the fact he didn't seem to care about the results he was still there to oversee the January transfer window.

It is safe to say there were some fantastic loan signings like Jamie Walker and Dion Pereria (who we never even saw play under Adams yet turned out to be a fantastic signing when he did play) and then there were some more questionable ones like Daly who we just didn't get the best out of and Bass who somehow became a solid first choice 'keeper even after a fair few questionable mistakes. I think the biggest shock of the window though was us losing our captain Canavan right at the end of the window leaving us short of experience in the centre back position, this was clearly due to something in the background due to how it shocked almost everyone.

Finally though not long after the end of the transfer window the club finally got rid of Adams with his ego seeming to get the better of him and we had a brief spell of Trueman being back in charge stepping up from the assistant role. What makes the Adams sacking even better is how he said 'you will never find a better manager than me' .... well step aside Adams as us Bradford City fans had a massive shock when the club announced the new managed to be Mark Hughes, no one expected it. In fact it was that much of a shock I honestly believed it was the parody account that had announced it not the actual Bradford City one and honestly I still can't get my head around that it is Hughes in charge now and who knows maybe we might get out of League 2 sooner rather than later with him in charge.

The best part about the Hughes appointment for me though was seeing those players who looked awful under Adams finally start looking like footballers again, they started to show up and actually play some football. They were moving the ball around and actually trying to score and creating some great chances whilst they were at it. At times with how they were moving the ball around it didn't feel like we were watching a League two team it looked much better quality and gave us hope for what the future holds at the club. even players who were missing for most of Adams reign seemed to slip back into the squad and make an impact. We saw Peraira magically recover from an injury that kept him from playing under Adams and he soon became a fan favourite after putting in some great performances. Even Gareth Evans returned to the squad after a long time on the sidelines and showed us what he was capable of  it is just a shame we have now released him as I think he could have done well under Hughes next season.

Even though the players were starting to perform much better unfortunately results just weren't falling in their favour and we still weren't picking up those points that could have helped us climb the table a fair bit towards the end of the season but at the end of the day a 14th place finish is way better than we expected around the festive period.

The team started to look so much better and honestly it has set the standard pretty high for us fans for the new season but I think we could definitely be in for a treat as the Hughes rebuild is well underway with us making some pretty good signings early on in the transfer window rather than leaving everything to the last minute plus we are keeping hold of some key players from last season. With a nice mix of new and old I think the season could go pretty well if the players settle into the Hughes way of playing early on and I think with more to be done in the transfer window we could see the club go from strength to strength in some positions where quality has been lacking lately.

At the end of the day though last season didn't go to plan but it was nice to be back in Valley Parade watching the team we love with fellow fans rather than having to sit and watch it on a laptop screen through ifollow. I don't want to get my hopes up too high going into the new season as we saw how that played out last time but there is a real sense of excitement in the air at the moment so let's hope next season is so much better.

What did you think to Bradford City's 2021/22 campaign?

My favourite Bradford City players from a tough season...

Well the 2021/22 season is over and done with at last and as a City fan it is safe to say I am glad. After a preseason full of promises the season didn't exactly go to plan with Adams in charge but we will go more into that another day. We did see a turn around once Mark Hughes became manager (still not sure how we pulled that one off) but it was too little too late and it was just a case of seeing out the season and working out who would be in the plans for the following season. Honestly at the start of the season I struggled to find any favourite players from the squad as they all looked quite poor minus a few exceptions but there was no consistency from anyone. After the Hughes appointment though players seemed to spark up and we started seeing what they were capable of, so here are the Bradford City players that impressed me during the 2021/22 season.

Liam Ridehalgh

Ridehalgh impressed me out on the left when he wasn't injured. Even once he was back from injury we saw a big change down that side of the pitch as he seemed to slot right back into the set up. Ridehalgh linked up really well with Vernham when they shared time on the field together and we saw them create some great attacks with this link up. I think if he stayed fully fit or even had half the time out injured that he did we would have really seen the best of him this season.

Levi Sutton

Sutton was one of the only players that stood out to me at the start of the season and honestly when he was on the pitch he really put a shift in and made some great tackles to stop the opposition progressing and also took part in some good plays to get City forward. Unfortunately midseason he ended up spending some time on the sidelines so we didn't get to see as much as I would have liked to under Hughes management but I think he is another player that if he stayed fully fit all season could have really made a difference in how the results played out.

Charles Vernham

Vernham has really impressed me this season and again I wish he didn't have that long spell on the sideline injured as I think we might have picked up a few more points if he was on the pitch. For many seasons now we have been lacking that winger that can get a good ball into the box, take on defenders and generally cause trouble for the opposition. Vernham was capable of this and it is just a shame most of the time there was no one in the box to connect with his crosses. He even managed to grab a few goals for himself and showed himself as a real threat.

Yann Songo'o

Songo'o was one of the signings I wasn't too sure about in the summer but it didn't take long for his performances to change my mind. He ended up playing as a centre back for the majority of the season and he really helped keep City in the game plenty of times. Some of the challenges he put in were fantastic and some of the last minute blocks and clearance really stopped City losing by a lot higher margin or kept them on level terms with the opposition. Songo'o also managed to grab himself a few goals during the season and I think I would say he was in my top 2 favourites of the season.

Dion Pereira

It felt like forever waiting for Pereira to get his first bit of game time for City due to injury but when he did finally get some game time we saw just what potential he had. He looked far too good for the league and created some great plays and opportunities. It does make you wonder how well we would have done if he was fit from the day he signed as he really helped lift the squad and the fans spirits due to his quality. It is just a shame we only got him on a loan as we were just starting to get the best out of him so who knows what influence he could have with a full season under Hughes' management. Could we eventually sign him on a permanent deal? Who knows but it would be fantastic if we could tempt him for another season.

Jamie Walker

Since signing on loan Walker has easily become a fan favourite and has shown the quality he can bring to the side. Unfortunately Jamie is another player who had an injury spell but that didn't stop him and he ended up coming back and scoring some great goals for the team (in front of the Kop too which we didn't see much of this season) and helped create some promising attacks for the team. I am so glad we managed to turn his loan into a 2 year permanent contract as I think with his capabilities he is going to be influential in helping us push for promotion next season and under Hughes he can definitely develop into an even better player.

So there you go those are the players that really stood out to me over the course of the season for Bradford City. It is safe to say it was a difficult time to be a City fan especially up to the middle of the season however, the appointment of Mark Hughes has seen a bit of optimism come back among the fans and I wonder how many players are going to impress us next season. I am looking forward to seeing who we bring in as it could be an interesting one, I wonder if any of these players will make my favourites next year too.

Who was your favourite Bradford City player this season?

Our Thoughts On Mark Hughes Being Appointed Bradford City Manager

It has definitely been a rough time to be a Bradford City fan, things just haven't been going to plan the past few years but have we finally found the cure to those past few seasons with the appointment of new Manager Mark Hughes?

The is no denying that this season so far has been absolutely terrible (but more on that another day as that is a whole post itself) with results just not going our way and terrible performances on the pitch. It is safe to say the majority of us fans went into the season with high hopes thanks to promises from the club and the then new manager Derek Adams, with his track record it was hard not to be hopefully of pushing for promotion. But this didn't go to plan and it was safe to say everyone was getting frustrated.

With the manager & team we had there is no doubt that we should have been getting much better results but something just wasn't clicking and performances were boring and painful to watch, you just knew walking into the ground you weren't going to be seeing the best from the players and I really do believe this is due to tactics and falling outs more than anything else. The tactics just seemed all wrong how you can play with 1 man up front and play the long ball every time baffles me, you need 2 upfront in this league and if you are playing the long ball you need 1 man to flick the ball onto another striker not just 1 man doing all the work for 90 minutes. We have had our fair share of injuries too which hasn't helped but we have a bench full of players that are more than capable of stepping up and putting in a good performance if they wanted to and if they were given the opportunity to.

I wasn't a fan of Adams as our manager if I am honest, the football her orchestrated wasn't fun to watch and he didn't seem to want to change, his ego was a bit too big for my liking too. He constantly played it off as it was fans at fault rather than himself and seemed to keep bigging himself up as a manager when performances told a different story. His comment about us not finding a better manager tipped me over the edge and I wasn't bothered if he left the club. I do find it funny though as that was one of his final comments then along comes new manager Mark Hughes...

With all the names being thrown around on who could possibly fill Adams shoes I honestly thought we would end up with Steve Evans or Richie Wellens especially with them being the most frequently spoken about names. I really didn't see Mark Hughes becoming our next manager, in fact when it was announced I was so shocked I thought it was a parody account that had tweeted it. When it finally did start to sink in though it got me thinking about what could be to come for the remainder of the season and next season.

Mark Hughes is one of those managers who has been around for a while now and has managed at some great clubs with some big names playing at the clubs at the time, I have actually enjoyed watching the teams he has managed so lets hope that doesn't change with him now being in charge at City. With Hughes being used to managing at higher levels it is going to be interesting to see how he does with us in League 2 with standards and tactics being totally different to top leagues, I am sure given time though he will settle in nicely and find out the strengths of the team and how we can make it work in the league. He has notably had a few years away from the game too but I can't see that being too much of an issue with him and fingers crossed it brings him in with a clear view of what he wants to achieve.

All that I can seem to think about though is the connections he possibly has from previous appointments and just his general time in the game to date, not only that his name should also bring the club to some great players attention and should help us build a great squad for the future. Granted there is not much he can do this season unless he brings in some free agents whilst that is still an available but I am more looking forward to the summer transfer period when fingers crossed we should be able to build up a strong squad and really look to push ourselves up the leagues in the future. Let's just hope we are right and his name does help bring in some great players as it is definitely needed in most positions on the pitch at the moment.

The announcement definitely seemed to help win back some fans and give them a little bit of a sense of hope after how the season has gone so far but I think most fans are going to have the same attitude of not getting their hopes up too high for the remainder of the season thanks to how the previous appointment turned out but I do believe the general sense is that we could actually be onto something good here and if given the support from the board I really hope this turns into a long term appointment and we could end up going back to the days of Phil Parkinson being in charge where fans really looked forward to game days and the stadium was full of fans chanting unlike it has been the past few months.

I definitely aren't going to set my hopes too high with this appointment and I think it is going to take time to see drastic changes which we need but fingers crosses Hughes settles well at the club and gets plenty of backing from not only the board but the fans too, I know we have been having a bad season so far but miracles don't happen over night. We need to give Hughes time and a good chance to build his team, if results don't go our way straight away we don't need to be giving him abuse straight away because remember he inherited this team, he needs to have a chance to find out what works and to bring in the players he can work with the best.

Fingers crossed we start to see the results change and start to go our way and lets hope the players start playing to the best of their ability now too and give Mark Hughes a reason to pick them week in week out. Hopefully we can start picking up points rather than dropping them.

What do you think to Mark Hughes becoming Bradford City's new manager?

Our Current Favourite Bradford City Players

It has been a strange start to the season for the Bradford City team with some great performances and some absolutely terrible ones, we went into the season full of hope after a pretty promising build up to the start of the season. However, once again it has been difficult to be a City fan with results just not going our way when we know that on paper our team is capable of big things. For some reason something isn't clicking at times with the team and performances just haven't been good enough. A few players have definitely not had the best of times lately and a few have also been hit by injuries that have kept them out for a while so I can't really judge them, there are a few players who have definitely stood out for me though and have had some very good games and have helped Bradford City get some of the results they desperately needed. So here are our current favourite Bradford City players...

Vernham has been brilliant out on the wing for us this season as his pace really helps us beat the opposition defenders and also get us in some dangerous places. He is also able to put some really good balls into the box which is what we really lack when he is unavailable for selection. He has got a few goals to his name but honestly it is his build up play that impresses me the most.

I am so glad that Sutton is back from injury as he has been a big part of the team recently. He is absolutely fantastic in the middle of the field and can win the ball back in some great positions for us and help us break forward. He is definitely what City have been missing recently and fingers crossed he can stay injury free as I think he is going to be a key player for us and help us finally start to move up the table.

Callum Cooke is a brilliant player whether he starts on the field of play or comes on as a substitute. His set pieces are great and he is brilliant in the middle of the field. I would love to see more of him alongside Sutton though as I think that midfield partnership could be great. I would definitely love to see Cooke get some more game play as he definitely deserves it and a few of the current midfielders definitely look like they could use a rest.

I have absolutely loved Paudie O'Connor since he first arrived at the club as he is a great defender for such a young age. He has solidified his spot in central defence and is not only a great defender but we have seen how he can grab a goal for himself at set pieces. O'Connor doesn't seem to make as many rash decisions as he used to and he has shown he is a leader of the team. Let's hope he can stay injury free and away from suspension as the team definitely need him in that back line.

Songo'o was one of the players we got in the summer and I was a bit on the fence about how he would fit into the squad but since seeing him play I have realised how good of a player he is. He is great in defence or as a defensive midfielder and he has put in some great challenges and helped us get into some great positions. Having him as an extra defender when he is in that defensive midfielder role is great as it just gives us a bit more protection at the back. Yes he has had some questionable games but so have the rest of the team but he seems to realise his mistakes a lot quicker and bounce back with a great performance.

These players have definitely helped City out so far this season and I can see them being influential right up until the end of the season. I am sure when I do my favourite players of the season overall some of these names are still going to be in the mix as I can only see them helping the squad as long as they stay injury free. It is going to be interesting to see how the season progresses for City after the Christmas period and I hope it is going to be a case of us starting to pick up all 3 points from games and hopefully by the end of the season a few more names will make the list.

Bradford City Summer Transfers 2021/22

I think every Bradford City fan felt the same towards the end of last season... big changes were needed. On paper the team we had last season should have been absolutely fantastic and we had the prime opportunity to aim for promotion but once again we missed out and under performed which is becoming an all too familiar situation these days for us fans to watch. You look back to when we narrowly lost to Millwall in the play off final back in 2017 we were a team that played well and had a really good chance at playing in the Championship now here we are struggling to leave League 2 behind. It seems like times are changing at Bradford City though as this past summer transfer window has been a great one and we have brought in plenty of players who again have the potential for us to make a promotion push and we are already seeing the results changing on the pitch with these transfers playing a big part in that happening.

Even before Adams was appointed manager the club had a clear out which was bound to free up some wages for new players and make space in the squad for anyone we brought in. It is funny looking at the list though as all the players who left did so due to their contract running out and us not offering them new ones or them declining them. There were a few surprises on the out transfer list for me as I thought one player might have wanted to stay to end his career at the club and a few of the outs have actually ended with retirement which shocked me as I thought those players might have actually had a few more years in them yet. So here is who left the club this summer...

Out
Anthony O'Connor
Connor Wood
Clayton Donaldson
Connor Shanks
Zeli Ismail
Harry Pritchard
Billy Clarke
Will Huffer
Lee Novak

It is funny really how just as I was growing to like Anthony O'Connor he has left us, I think in his first few seasons at the club he was a bit of a left down and didn't really play as we expected and I know that a lot of fans wanted rid of him after those performances, I was one of them, but last season he was in my eyes on of our best players and we let him go which was a bit of a shock but when you see who we brought in you can really see why he left and actually ended up playing in a higher league. I was a bit surprised that Donaldson left too as I thought he would have wanted to see out his career at his hometown club but he has now ended up playing for York and seems to be doing quite well there. The two big shocks for me though are Lee Novak & Billy Clarke who have actually ended up retiring. I thought these two players would have had a few seasons left in them and I though Novak would have done another season at City, I am not sure if injuries have had a big part to play in these decisions or if it is just down to being unable to find new clubs but either way those two players have had pretty good careers.

I am not sure if it was the change of manager or the promises we have made to players in regards to the future of the club and the direction it is heading in but I believe we have also brought in some great names that have a lot of potential and can provide that threat we have been lacking in previous seasons. Maybe it is the thought of playing in front of thousands of fans week in week out that has attracted them as throughout all the clubs struggles in recent years those fans have certainly stuck by them and I might be biased but are by far some of the best fans in the league both home and away. Whatever has happened we have finally had a positive transfer window and hopefully that is reflected in the results this season. So here are the players Bradford City signed this summer...

In
Liam Ridehalgh
Andy Cook
Caolan Lavery
Abo Eisa
Alex Gillead
Oscar Threlkeld
Fiarce Kelleher
Yann Songo'o
Theo Robinson
Lee Angol

Andy Cook was on loan with us last season and I said to Liam straight away I would love to sign him on a permanent and this summer we managed it. Cook is a goal scorer as we have seen and if we keep him fit and away from suspension I think he is going to lay a pivotal part in our promotion push this season. When Alex Gillead first came to City he was still young and pretty inexperienced so I am looking forward to seeing how he performs for us this time around as his pace could really help us in some dangerous attacks. As so the rest of the new signings I am really looking forward to seeing them play a little bit more before I make my mind up on them but so far it is good and we are look like a team that knows what they are doing once more.

What was nice this summer is not seeing preseason team sheets filled with the word trialist, Adams had his squad and gave them that much needed playing time during preseason which was a nice change. We also don't currently have any loan players which is great as there is no chance of players being cup tied, blocked from playing or even worse recalled at the worst time. The players are ours for a change and are free to play which ever games Adams wants them too.

We are now a few games into the season and I am already impressed with what I have seen, the new additions to the squad and the appointment of Adams seems to have really fired up the dressing room and the performance on the pitch is getting much better and we actually look like a team to be afraid of once more. The excitement of going and spending afternoons at Valley Parade is back once more and I am pretty hopefully for the season ahead.

What do you think to Bradford City's summer transfer window? Do you think it was a good one?

My 2021/22 League 2 Predictions

The League 2 season has finally begun and I can't wait to get back into Valley Parade to watch Bradford City as us fans have been kept out for far too long, it is going to be great just going back to the ground and watching live football for the team I love. I am actually really looking forward to those cold Tuesday night winter games too which I guess goes to show just how excited I am to be heading back as those were some of my least favourite games just down to how cold it would get at Valley Parade. This season should be an interesting season with the return of fans and a lot of changes especially at teams like Bradford. It is strange as I have only watched Bradford play from the league and whoever they were playing that week as not been able to go threw me off a bit and I didn't follow the league half as much as I should have like in recent years but this season is definitely going to be different as I am going to be back watching and following as much as possible from the league. I think the lack of atmosphere at games really put a downer on the game during the Covid period but I think things are about to get more interesting this time around.

I think there could be some surprise results happen throughout the season and honestly I think it could be a close call at both ends of the table.  So here is how I think the table is going to look by the end of the season.

Exeter City
Swindon Town
Bradford City
Forest Green
Tranmere Rovers
Harrogate Town
Leyton Orient
Carlise United
Stevenage
Newport County
Rochdale
Oldham Athletic
Bristol Rovers
Colchester United
Walsall
Crawley Town
Port Vale
Salford City
Northampton Town
Sutton United
Hartlepool United
Barrow
Scunthorpe United
Mansfield Town

It was actually really hard to narrow down where I thought each team was going to finish as due to us not being in the grounds for a while and the lack of league 2 shown online I have actually forgot what some of these teams where like last season however, quite a few have made big changes to their squads so I think we are going to be in for a good season all round. This season could go either way and I think fans being back will play a huge part in the teams performances let's just hope they haven't forgot how to play in front of a crowd as it has been a while for them.

Now get me back in that Kop watching City.

Bradford City 2021/22 Third Shirt

Well it is here we have finally seen the Bradford City 3rd kit and it certainly hasn't disappointed me. I had heard rumours that the shirt was going to be blue but I didn't expect it to look as good as it does. I have loved the previous blue shirts we have had especially the Avec ones so I knew we were going to get something that looked good but does it live up to my expectations?

Looking at the shirt it looks like it is the same template as the home goalkeeper shirt just in a different colour. The blue looks absolutely brilliant though and the mix between the shades of blue in the chevrons looks absolutely fantastic. Again I really like how the shirt is simply just a few shades of blue and the white. The sponsor stands out well once again and I think City sponsors are the only ones I really don't mind. The darker blue around the neckline is also a nice touch as it is subtle but you can see the little addition nicely. For me it just looks like a nice clean shirt that is going to look really nice being worn.

The back of the shirt carries on with the chevron pattern up to the shoulder line too just like with the goalkeeper shirt. I just like how the pattern flows throughout the whole shirt and gives the nice clean look all round. The only details other than the chevrons on the back are the Mitton Group sponsor and the black ribbon which as always is nice to see. I think the players names and numbers are going to look great on this shirt too and should stand out nicely which is going to be useful for us fans.

I like how the sleeves are a plain blue apart from the Avec taping running down the centre in the darker blue and white which just fits with the rest of the shirt nicely. There is also the darker blue mesh paneling down the side of the shirt which again doesn't look out of place.

I will definitely be purchasing this shirt as I absolutely love the colour and the chevron detail. I think it is safe to say I am going to be wearing this during the next season, I hope we get to see the players in this shirt too as it is a good one. If like me you want to purchase the shirt for yourself it will cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00
Infant kit - £27.95

Even though it is the third shirt we still have the claret and amber incorporated into the kit thanks to the goalkeeper shirt and it looks brilliant. This is the same sort template as the outfield players shirt however, this time it is in this vibrant amber colour with the sponsor in the claret which looks brilliant and is a nice change. The chevrons are nice and subtle on here and again the flow perfectly through the shirt. I really like the claret around the neckline too as it fits the rest of the shirt nicely but doesn't stand out too much.

The back also has the chevrons going up to the shoulder line with it also cutting off at the shoulder line just like with the outfield players. Again the only other detail on the back is the Mitton Group sponsor and the ribbon. I actually really like the sponsor in the claret colour in fact and it looks perfect against the amber shirt. I really hope the name and number fits in with this shirt too and doesn't ruin it like it has done in the past for me.

The sleeves are a plain claret with no chevrons running down them but they do have the Avec taping which looks great in the claret and amber, granted I thought they would have a bit of white on the but they have stayed away from this so that the shirt is simply just claret and amber fitting with the clubs historical colours. There is also a claret mesh panel down the side which doesn't take up too much space and is a subtle addition to break down the otherwise all amber shirt. It is nice to know there is always going to be some form of claret and amber on the pitch if the shirts are worn in the correct combinations.

Just like with the goalkeeper home shirt I am actually really tempted to pick this shirt up for myself which is a change as like I said in the home shirt post I don't usually bother with them but Avec have definitely won me over with this seasons goalkeeper options. If like me you want purchase the shirt for yourself it will cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00

It is safe to say I am going to be getting at least 5 of the 6 shirts we have released for this season and I already have one in my collection already. Avec have definitely done a fantastic job this season and I am looking forward to seeing the players out on the pitch in them all. I honestly can't pick a favourite though so for now lets just say all 6 are my favourites. Which is you favourite Bradford City shirt this season?

In Conversation With Chris Hames

It has been a while since I have done one of these In Conversation posts and what better way to bring them back than with Bradford City Women's very own Chris Hames. Since Chris took charge of the women's team we have definitely seen an improvement both on and off the pitch however, the pandemic ultimately put a hold on that progress but as we enter the new season which we are hoping to complete this time around we are also going in as being part of the Bradford City Community Foundation and Bingley Bantams Ian & Keith Taylor taking charge of the club on a day to day basis. This move is bound to help bring in supporters and bring the women's club more inline with the men's and junior teams which has been needed for a long time really so the women's team were part of he club more than just having the same name and kits. So here is how our chat with Chris about the upcoming season, changes and pandemic delays went...

EOTA : Whilst we haven’t seen much on the pitch due to covid we have seen plenty of movement off the pitch with Ian & Keith Taylor joining the club and us becoming part of community foundation how do you think that’s going to benefit us?

Chris : Them joining the club has been a breath of fresh air. It means a lot to us that we are part of the institution that is Bradford City - and the support they have given has been superb so far. Qas has taken over as our GM, which will only drive this club on with what he gives for the club and his ambition, as well as allowing us to rejoin and get closer to the Junior teams again - and we can all see the quality of player coming through at all ages there.

EOTA :  With the last two seasons being cancelled we haven’t seen your full potential as manager yet but results started to change for the better. Are you confident we can keep this up?

Chris : This has never been about me. The group hasn't changed dramatically since the one that was struggling when I took over, all they needed was some confidence, some direction and then we have had a few excellent people join the group too. We've reached a point where there is a buzz about the place, where being good people is the first and last condition to being a part of the club, and that has to power to take us very far.

EOTA : With two new additions to the league are you looking forward to finding out what those teams are all about after there being no movement between leagues due to the cancelled seasons?

Chris : Yes it'll be nice to have some new teams to play, and some new challenges - though there are still a number of teams in this division I haven't faced over the last two years, with all the lockdowns and postponements, so the whole season should feel like a new challenge as it is. There will be challenges to these additions. FC United have come up having had years of dominating the league above, and I am very familiar with their manager and players, from some of my previous roles. Alnwick proves a different challenge, one we don't know much about yet, but I'm sure they will come flying into this league - though we may need to charter a flight to just get us up there for a 2pm KO!

EOTA :  What are your main aims for this season? Is it all about promotion or is it mainly finding your rhythm again after all the stop start of the past few seasons?

Chris : I am always under the belief that we must all 'aim for the moon...' so lets see

EOTA :  Covid has been a big player since March 2020 and with the fact it isn’t going away do you think we are going to suffer from further disruption.

Chris : Yes, unfortunately. It is going to be a tough job for the league to make sure that no one is unfairly punished for Covid reasons, but also to ensure that teams don't use it to their advantage, like we saw one or two try to do last term. I think we just have to be flexible, and adapt to the environment at each time, though I do hope this season can be completed.

EOTA :  We are seeing the club come closer to the men's team and after the merge with the foundation we are seeing a lot more promotion across social media, do you think that promotion is going to bring in more fans to games?

Chris : Bradford City is a huge club. As an outsider I probably didn't realise how big a club it was until I came; but the support is special, in spite of there not always being a lot to cheer about over the last few years. I want the people of Bradford, the fans of City to embrace us as a part of their club, as a part of the family and come out in numbers. I would love for 1% of the men's match going crowd to come and follow us week in week out too.

EOTA : Have you found it easier or harder to recruit new players / keep hold of players with all that has gone on or do you think the addition of the foundation has helped bring in new faces?

Chris : The girls have been fantastic. Their development over the last 12 months, in spite of everything, has been great to be a part of, and we have a group that are determined to see this out together.

EOTA : For those who might be inspired by the Euros and want to take a step into management do you have any advice?

Chris : Just do it. Go help out at a grassroots club. Under 9's, Under 16's, Reserves, First team. It doesn't matter, just get involved.

So there we have it that was our in conversation with Chris Hames, I am hoping to get more pieces from Chris and the team throughout the season to run alongside these little interviews so keep your eyes on the blog for them as I already have a few more to post very soon but I thought we best start with Chris to see what he thinks about the season ahead. Throughout this morning there will be a lot more Bradford City content but if you want to see interviews with anyone specific please do let me know as they are really fun to do and give us all a bit more of an insight into the teams.  Fingers crossed Chris can get the team playing as they should be this season and Covid doesn't cause any more disruption.

Bradford City 2021/22 Away Shirt

It is safe to say to it is going to be strange for us Bradford fans as our usual home colours of claret and amber are going to be our away colours for the season. It is a change I am definitely happy to have though as our home shirt looks great and the retro style of the home shirt is worth the change. I didn't think we would be able to top our home shirt but Avec and City have managed to pull off yet another fantastic design. So just like with the home shirt let's have a closer look at the away shirt...

This claret and amber shirt could have easily been our home shirt this time around but it is a nice change to see it as an away shirt, switching things up from time to time has never hurt anyone right? I love how the shirt is basically in two block colours giving it that half and half effect with the thinner claret stripe also merging on to the yellow side. We also have the subtle vertical stripes going down throughout of the shirt without standing out too much so it just has that little bit of extra detail. Nothing looks out of place on the shirt either as it just flows so well with the sponsor, Avec logo and club crest sitting nicely on the shirt. I will be honest I wasn't to sure about the random claret stripe in the yellow side but after seeing it a whole lot more I do quite like it. I also really like how both sleeves are kept claret instead of having one claret and one amber, I think this just works better and I love the claret being the more prominent colour.

On the back the design from the front is carried over instead of it being one solid colourand I think it looks great although it is going to be interesting to see how it looks with the players names and numbers printed on it, fingers crossed you can see it clearly. We have the big chunk of claret at the top where the only back details are situated and they stand out well. We have the Mitton Group sponsorship taking up most of this space but it doesn't look out of place at all. We then have the black ribbon as always to remember those who died in the fire and I love how this is situated right at the top of the shirt as you really do notice it and it just feels like a fitting tribute.

I absolutely love the side on view where you can see that the back colours are the opposite way around to the front, it just gives a bit of a half and half effect from side on and it flows really well due to the sleeves and top of the back being claret. I just think it looks really well put together and like quite a bit of thought was put into this design overall. The shirt also features the Avec logo taping on each sleeve just like with the home shirt and I am really growing to love this addition from Avec as over the past few seasons they have looked great on the sleeves.

I have a funny feeling that I will own this sooner rather than later and a trip to the club shop is definitely needed but maybe I will wait until we see the third shirt so I can get everything in one go instead of making too many trips. If like me you want to pick up the away shirt it is going to cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00
Infant kit - £27.95

It is safe to say the goalkeeper away shirt is quite a bit different to the home one as it is really bold and is going to standout on the pitch which is opposite to the black home one. The bold pink colour (it may look totally different in person) definitely catches your eye and all the extras such as badges and logos look perfectly in place with the white as they also catch your eye. I wasn't too sure about the colour at first as I though our goalkeepers were just going to look like walking talking highlighters but it is definitely growing on me. Other than the pink and white on the front of the shirt you just have a little bit of black which is subtly around the neck of the shirt and just flows well with the other details around the rest of the shirts. I just really like how nice and simple the shirt looks.

Just like with the home goalkeeper shirt this away one also features that subtle chevron style design that creates a little bit of a pattern on the shirt instead of it being totally plain and honestly I think without this little bit of a design it would look a little too plain and boring for me. I also like how they carried that same design over to the away shirt and just changed the colour instead of creating a totally new shirt design. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to go and it has definitely worked well for both the goalkeeper kits this season. You also have the same Mitton Group sponsor on the back of this shirt in white and the black ribbon for the tribute to those who lost their lives, so it is still nice and simple on the back with the players name and number looking like it is going to take up the main focus as it should do.

I am definitely a fan of the Avec taping on each sleeve and the black of the taping fits in really well with the black mesh panel. The pink of the shirt really does create the main focus and the white for the main details work well as they stand out but the black for me just adds a bit of a nicer touch as the 3 colours work really well together and the black isn't too over powering and just breaks the front and back of the shirt up a bit which I really like. I think I actually prefer the side on view of this shirt over other ones.

I honestly can't see me getting this shirt however, the more I see it the more it grows on me so who knows it might end up being added to my collection by the end of the season but for now I am definitely still on the fence about owning it, if you do want to pick it up for yourself though it will cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00

As I say it is definitely going to be strange seeing us wearing claret and amber for our away games but it might be a welcome change. It is also safe to say we aren't going to miss our goalkeepers this season in their away shirts. Fingers crossed I can get my hands on the away shirt very soon as I love it. That is the home and away shirts released and they haven't disappointed so I am now really looking forward to seeing the third shirt.

Are you a fan of the Bradford City away shirt?

Bradford City 2021/22 Home Shirt

The day finally arrived on Monday and we finally got our first look at the new Bradford City shirt and it didn't disappoint, well especially not for me as we have gone for something different. We have gone retro taking inspiration from the shirt 40 years ago and it has been done so well. For me Avec Sport are a fantastic kit supplier and looking back I don't think I have ever actually been disappointed by any of the shirts they have done for us. So here is a look at the shirt a bit closer...

The shirt has definitely taken on a more retro feel to take us back 40 years and Avec have captured the feel of the shirt really well. We have opted to move away from our familiar all over claret and amber shirt this season which I think makes a nice change as it just mixes things up a bit, it does make you wonder what our away and third shirts are going to look like colour wise, I know that I can't wait to find out though.

The white on the shirt gives it a nice clean and classic look whilst the claret and amber across the shoulders gives it that true Bradford City feel whilst not ruined that clean look. I think this shirt could have gone numerous ways but the stripes across the shoulders is definitely the best way to go especially with the claret being the more prominent colour of the two. I love the Avec logo being in the claret colour too as it just flows with the rest of the shirt. To be honest sponsors that take up a lot of space on shirts aren't the one for me however, I have never had an issue with the JCT600 sponsorship as it just seems to work really well on all our shirts and Avec incorporate it into their designs perfectly. The fact it is claret fits in with the club and the rest of the shirt.

The back of the shirt is kept nice and simple too and fingers crossed the names and numbers are going to stand out perfectly instead of us struggling to see them like we did at some points last season. I love how the shoulder detail rolls over onto the back with the block of claret and small amber stripe underneath that. Again the Mitton Group sponsor is worked into the design really well as it stands out but doesn't stand out too much. The only other thing on the back of the shirt is the black ribbon to remember those we sadly lost in the fire which it is nice to see we are keeping on our shirts.

On the side of the shirt we have a lovely claret mesh panel which is subtle but just adds a bit more colour to the shirt. From the front you can barely see it but it is definitely a nice addition. We have then added something a bit more up to date to the retro shirt... the Avec logo taping on the sleeve. I absolutely loved this on last seasons shirt and honestly I don't think it ruins the look at all as I think it merges the past with the future.

I usually wait until my birthday for the latest shirt but honestly I don't think I can wait until September for it. If like me you want to purchase this shirt or any other bits it will cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00
Infant kit - £27.95

£49.95 seems expensive for a Bradford City shirt especially if you are buying a few but with it being Avec you are really getting what you pay for as I have never had any issues with them in the past.

We also got a first look at our goalkeeper kit and now to be honest I am never really interested in goalkeeper kits but this one has caught my eye and even Liam is tempted by it. Granted when I first saw it I thought Hornby looked more like a referee than a goalkeeper but after seeing other pictures of it my mind has really been changed.

The shirt is a nice blend of black and white with the white details really standing out. It has a slightly hidden chevron design on the actual fabric which just adds something a little different too it which I really like as you have to go look for it really as it is nice and subtle but stops the shirt just being plain black. The white Avec logo and JCT600 logo look great too and really stand out alongside the clubs badge. The white around the neck also looks nice too, at first I thought it looked a bit random but after seeing it a few times it is a nice bit of added detail.

The chevron design is carried over onto the back of the shirt so it is safe to say it all flows nicely as the design is so continuous. We have the white Mitton Group sponsor on the back which fits nicely at the top of the shirt and instead of the black ribbon like on the outfield players home shirt we have a white ribbon to remember those lost in the fire which I think looks perfect as it definitely stands out and is noticeable, in fact it is more noticeable than it is on the outfield players home shirt.

Just like with the outfield players shirt we have the mesh panel on the side which is in the white detailing. You can see this a little more from the front but it works well as it just looks like it is meant to be there and wasn't just an after thought. As you can see from the image above it flows really nicely with the Avec taping on the sleeves too which uses the same white theme and looks perfect.

This might actually be the first goal keeper shirt I actually purchase for myself as it is safe to say I am finding it to be a nice shirt and I am looking forward to seeing the other goal keeper shirt options for the season. Again if like me you fancy picking up this shirt for yourself it will cost you...

Shirt - £37.50 - £49.95
Shorts - £18.00 to £22.00
Socks - £8.50 to £11.00

Avec have once again smashed it in my eyes for this home shirt and I am looking forward to picking one up for myself and seeing the team wearing the shirt throughout the season. Now lets hope we get to see the away and third shirts soon.
