Another fantastic weekend of WSL action has taken place...

Another weekend of WSL fixtures have taken place and it is safe to say it was a goal fest this weekend with a minimum of 3 goals scored across each game with one massive 8-0 result which went in Tottenham's favour, the goals have been flying in so far this season and the teams are showing no signs of slowing down. It is still very tight at the top of the table too with the top 3 teams all being on the same points, the only difference is Chelsea have played one more game than Arsenal & Man Utd. This season has definitely been a great one so far but I have come to really I could really do without the majority of the games kicking off at the same time, it is too hard to watch them all especially when I am on my way to my own game, anyway here is a look at the matches from the weekend...

Chelsea vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa drew the game level with yet another Rachel Daly goal, who is once again showing us she isn't a defender, and you can get a lot out of her as an attacker. However, Chelsea managed to pull it back and eventually won the game 3-1 with goals from Sam Kerr and 2 from Lauren James. James is definitely having a great start to the season and is surely putting herself on Wiegman's radar for the England camps in the run up to the World Cup next year.

Manchester City vs Liverpool
Shaw got yet another goal for Man City this weekend giving Man City the lead over Liverpool until Katie Stengel pulled a goal back for them. It was substitute Hayley Raso that got the breakthrough goal though giving Man City a 2-1 win and helping them get those much needed 3 points on the table. Man City are definitely looking a lot better than they did in the first few games and with how things are going it is looking like Shaw is going to be a key player as she is scoring for the fun of it at the moment.

Reading vs Leicester City
5 games into the season and Reading finally have their first points on the board. They beat fellow league strugglers Leicester City 2-1, Leicester were winning 1-0 right up to the 90th minute when Reading's Rachel Rowe got the equaliser and in the 92nd minute she secured all 3 points for Reading, leaving Leicester at the bottom of the table and still awaiting their first points. I have to say I am a bit gutted I didn't get to watch this game as it sounds like a brilliant one.

Brighton vs Tottenham
Well this game seems to have been a one sided game with Tottenham putting 8 past Brighton. The teams facing Brighton lately have managed to put a fair few past them but Tottenham certainly took it up a notch with the 8 goals, which were scored by 5 players so were shared around the team nicely. Tottenham are definitely looking like a threatening team this season and are really challenging the teams they are facing, if they keep up the way they are I think we could see them causing a few upsets as the season progresses.

Everton vs Manchester United
Manchester United have kept up their perfect start to the season with yet another clean sheet. This time they took all 3 points off Everton who have looked strong this season so far but couldn't keep United at bay. Parris seems to have set the ball rolling with her goal tally at United as she opened the scoring, Galton then got herself on the score sheet again before Ladd finished off the scoring to make it 3-0. United have certainly started the season off very strong but their first big test is going to be on Sunday when they face Chelsea at home... we have tickets to that game and it is safe to say we really can't wait for it.

Arsenal vs West Ham
The final game of the weekend saw Arsenal take on West Ham. It was West Ham who took the lead with a goal from Brynjarsdottir, but a forced change for Arsenal saw Kim Little leave the field and Nobbs enter and what an impact sub it turned out to be. Nobbs scored with possibly her first touch of the game and it was another brilliant goal just like her midweek Champions League one, I really don't know why she isn't starting every game and getting much more game time as she has definitely shown what she is capable of. Blackstenius also found herself on the goal scorers list as did Maanum who has also had a great start to her season with Arsenal. With it being so tight at the top of the table so far this season Arsenal are showing their opposition just what they are made of and even after going behind they are showing how well they can bounce back.

It has definitely been another brilliant weekend of fixtures and I am really looking forward to seeing what this weekend holds especially with the clash between Chelsea and Manchester United taking place, that game is going to be a big test for United but do they have what it takes to keep up their unbeaten run? I guess we will find out on Sunday.
